A full 360° photo includes above and below the camera
A spherical panorama records the view all around a capture point, including the ceiling or sky and the floor or ground. Its common flat representation is equirectangular: twice as wide as it is tall. The left and right edges meet when wrapped around the viewer.
A 360 camera can export that image. Keep the original export rather than a screenshot of its viewer. Check the seam and make sure people or moving objects have not been split across it.
A phone panorama usually covers only part of the view
Sweeping a phone sideways often creates a wide strip with limited coverage above and below. Stretching that strip into a 2:1 rectangle changes the objects without revealing the missing scene. A normal photo cropped to 2:1 is not a full panorama either.
If you only have regular phone photos, use a set of overlapping views of one space. Keep the camera level and use the same orientation. Review the actual room boundaries in the preview.
Prepare the panorama for Roam
Choose one true panorama as the first photo and set the number of photos used to build the tour to one. Other photos can remain in the source gallery. Roam preserves the panorama aspect ratio and prepares it at up to 4096 pixels wide without enlarging a smaller file.
The upload check recognizes panorama-like dimensions but cannot prove full spherical coverage. The generation provider performs automatic panorama detection. Review both your source and the result rather than relying on the filename.
- Use the original JPEG, PNG or WebP export.
- Check that the left and right edges join.
- Include the full ceiling or sky and the floor or ground.
- Do not mix a true panorama into a regular multi-photo reconstruction.
- Keep rooms with separate walls and capture points in separate source sets.
Choose a useful starting point for your business
For a guest room, position the camera where a visitor can understand the bed, circulation space and windows. For a studio, show the room people will use; equipment details should also appear in ordinary photos and text. For a shop, choose a viewpoint that explains the browsing area.
A full panorama gives broader visual evidence, but generated areas can still differ from reality. Keep original photos available and verify any important amenity, access claim or dimension independently.
